Opticians

                                            Optician
Duties and responsibilities: An optician’s job is to design measure and adapt lenses and frames for clients according to their written optical prescription. They must measure the size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription. They must also adjust frame and lens position to fit client.
Salary:  An optician’s average salary is around $35,710 a year. That is more than a phlebotomist and an occupational therapy assistant.
Education: While some opticians enter the profession with only high school diplomas, most employers prefer applicants with opticianry certificates or associate’s degrees. Associate’s degree programs in opticianry prepare students with the job skills needed for an entry-level position in the field. Courses may include optical theory ophthalmic dispensing lens technology, finishing procedures and an optical laboratory.  Opticians may also gain training through apprenticeship programs, which are often offered by large employers and tend to last two or more years.

Reflection: I would not like to be an optician because I feel like, although it does help people, that it would be a boring job. I’ve had many experiences with opticians because my brother has very bad eye sight and almost every optician we’ve gone to, has been very cranky. Maybe it’s just my experiences with them but , otherwise, I’d still prefer to be an electronic engineer.
